DAMP MOPPING

HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU DAMP MOP?
PROPER DILUTION OF CLEANERS

  Equipment needed:   Chemicals needed:

    1.  Wet Mop and Handle
    2.  Bucket and Wringer
    3.  Wet Floor Signs

  1. FLOOR CLEANER
  Procedures:

Damp Mop Instructions

  1. Dust mop the floor using the dry cleaning procedures.
  2. Position wet floor signs.
  3. Always wear protective goggles and gloves when handling cleaning chemicals.
  4. Fill mop bucket with FLOOR CLEANER solution following directions on the product label.
  5. Start with a clean mop. Place mop into cleaning solution. Wring the mop thoroughly, it should only be damp, not dripping.
  6. Damp mop an area approximately 10" x 10", using a figure 8 motion. Leave the floor as dry as possible. This will speed the drying process and allow the floor open to traffic sooner.
  7. To prevent dirt from being re-deposited, change FLOOR CLEANER solution frequently.
  8. Clean all equipment and return to storage area.

Professional Maintenance Tips:
  • Always wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
  • Use cool water when diluting products.
  • Always add cleaner to water. Never water to cleaner.
  • Use caution signs as floor surface may become extremely slippery.
  • Use both sides of the mop.  Turn the mop over, keep mop on the floor and gently fold over to avoid splashing walls, baseboards, carpet, etc.
  • Change solution frequently.  Dirty solution cannot clean the floor.
